HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY

Overview:
Joining the trend of colleges and universities across the country, Hofstra University requested proposals to transform student life with an expansion of their campus. With colleges and universities heavily investing in both their academic and research facilities, budgets often fall short when it comes to student life and recreation. Many are turning to developers to create living, dining, shopping, and entertainment districts close to campus to attract and retain students and faculty. The developer-driven expansion would provide first floor retail/restaurants, second floor student housing, a student union type market structure, and a grassy plaza for recreation, seasonal events, and outdoor concerts. The developer asked us to evoke Ivy League college towns such as Princeton in the design of the buildings.
